Popular rapper and media personality, Slikour, recently shared a disturbing experience on his Instagram after being involved in a hit-and-run accident while out for a run.
In his post, Slikour real name Siyabonga Metane expressed gratitude for his well-being, but also highlighted the trauma he felt after the incident and the stark reality that many South Africans face regarding hit-and-run accidents.
He shared, “While running today I got hit n run by a car. I’m ok thanks God, but what traumatised me is when the nurse at the hospital told me how common hit n run patients get admitted in South Africa.”
The rapper took to Instagram to not only thank God for his safety but also to call for greater awareness in the community, especially for those who enjoy outdoor activities like jogging and walking.
“I know there’s a community of us doing our jogs and walks, I’d like to appeal to you to please be vigilant,” Slikour urged.
Slikour also humorously added a personal note, suggesting that his choice of music could have played a role in preventing the accident. He joked, “Also I know if I was listening to Kendrick and not Drake on my pods this wouldn’t of happened to me.”
In his closing thoughts, he emphasised the importance of staying safe, not just for personal well-being, but for the sake of the families who would be affected if a tragedy were to occur.
“Seriously though be safe out there, there are many families out there, and I’m only posting this cause I’m grateful my situation wasn’t worse and wouldn’t want anyone else experiencing it.”
