Youth Drama “Youngins” Teases Intense Final Season Ahead

During a lively Youth Day celebration at Zone 6 Venue in Soweto, Youngins stars Kealeboga Masango (Buhle) and Toka Mtabane (Khaya) excitedly confirmed that the third and final season of the hit youth drama will be premiering later this year on Showmax.

Since its debut, Youngins has struck a chord with South African audiences, capturing raw, authentic stories that deeply resonate with young people. Season 3 promises to build on this foundation, delivering more intense drama, emotional depth, and a bold exploration of the challenges of growing up in modern-day South Africa.

“Season 3 peels back the layers like never before,” teased Kealeboga, hinting at more vulnerability, personal struggles, and unfiltered truths. If you thought the first two seasons were intense, brace yourself – this one will hit even harder.

The stars reflected on the show’s cultural impact and shared what fans can expect from the highly anticipated season.

A Learning Experience for the Youth

Toka Mtabane highlighted the show’s unique ability to educate and resonate with its viewers:

“I get why adults enjoy Youngins – it gives them a sense of nostalgia, almost like a modern-day Yizo Yizo. But for young people, it’s more than just entertainment. They see themselves in us – both the good and the bad – and it becomes a learning experience. It’s truly an educational show for kids, offering a holistic and authentic portrayal of life.”

Reflecting on the cast’s personal journey, Toka spoke about his most memorable takeaway:

“The bond – absolutely the bond! From Season 1 to Season 2, we’ve grown so close as a cast. That growth has shaped me both personally and professionally. What excites me most is how audiences will witness that evolution – not just in our characters, but in us as actors and friends. I can’t wait to see how my own growth shines through in my performance.”

“Finally, Our Stories Are Being Told”

Kealeboga Masango passionately expressed the show’s significance for her as a young South African:

Youngins has played a huge role in my life. It tells real stories and brings authenticity to the challenges teenagers and the younger generation face. For me, it’s been powerful because, finally, our stories are being told. We dive into what really happens in high school, and it’s almost like educating both the older and younger generations.”

She also teased fans with a glimpse of what’s to come for her character, Buhle:

“In Seasons 1 and 2, Buhle was all extremes – hot or cold, no in-between. But this season, you’ll see her layers being peeled back. There will be more vulnerable moments, and it’s going to be beautiful. Fans can also expect deeper storylines and some surprising twists for the other characters too.”

Seasons 1 and 2 of Youngins are currently available for streaming on Showmax. The exact release date for the third and final season is yet to be confirmed.
