The Grahamstown Magistrate’s court is expected to hear Andile Lungisa‘s bail application.
The former Nelson Mandela Bay ANC councillor wants to be out of prison pending his appeal application to the Constitutional Court.
Lungisa handed himself over last week to start his two-year sentence after his appeal to have his sentence shortened was dismissed.
Lungisa was found guilty for assaulting DA councillor Ryno Kayser during a scuffle in the Nelson Mandela Bay council in 2016.
