COVID-19 in SA: 123 more deaths confirmed

South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll has increased by 123 in the last 24 hours.

The majority of the deaths are from the Eastern Cape (44), Gauteng (35) and KwaZulu-Natal (17).

This brings the number of confirmed coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 18,151.

The health department said 1,877 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, which brings the total number of confirmed cases to 696,141.

The number of people that have recovered from the virus is 626,898 which translates to a 90 percent recovery rate.

According to the family’s legal representative, they believe the dismissal of Parktown Boys’ High’s principal is still not justice for their son. Enock Mpianzi died while attending a Grade 8 orientation camp in January. The parents are suing for R10 million each. Learn more
