The Health Department confirmed 1,729 new COVID-19 cases in South Africa. The cumulative number of detected infections is now at 740,254.
The department has also reported 106 new deaths, taking the death toll to almost 20,000. Of the 106 deaths reported, 15 were recorded in the past 24/48 hours.

The recovery rate remains at 92 percent.
