Almost 2,000 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours. The Health Department reported 1,987 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.
The death toll now sits at 20,483 with 119 new deaths recorded. Seven of the new recorded deaths occurred in the past 24 hours.
Over 754,000 people have contracted the virus. More than 696,000 people have since recovered from the coronavirus.
More than five million coronavirus tests have been conducted in the country.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize visited hospitals in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday as COVID-19 cases are increasing in clusters.
More beds and doctors will be made available to assist with the outbreak in the province.
