Western Cape Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz is in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
Fritz announced his diagnosis on Twitter.
He says he will hold virtual meetings while focusing on his health.
His staff has been placed in self-quarantine.
Fritz is urging Western Cape residents to continue to follow COVID-19 safety protocols.
The Western Cape has recorded over 130,000 coronavirus cases.
1. I have tested positively for Covid-19 and have immediately begun self-isolating. Members of my staff have also begun self-quarantining. I have previously self-quarantined as a precaution as I know that this is the surest way to stop the spread.
