People with Down syndrome more likely to die of COVID-19

People with Down syndrome are 10 times more likely to die of COVID-19 or complications related to the virus.

This is because the genetic disorder is also associated with immune dysfunction and other health conditions.

The community of Bonteheuwel in Cape Town is mourning the death of a beloved young woman with Down syndrome who passed away this week.
