SA Liquor Brandowners: Most South Africans adhering to booze ban

With the country having ushered in the new year under a strict booze ban, the South African Liquor Brandowners Association said home consumption of alcohol remains the safest option for now.

Under the current level 3 lockdown restrictions, the sale of alcohol is completely banned, a decision which liquor traders have particularly taken issue with.

The association said it has observed that many South Africans have been adhering to the regulations, leading to reduced trauma cases in hospitals.

Salba Chairperson Sibani Mngadi said while consumers would have stocked up on alcohol ahead of the new year, there have been no concerns over compliance with the ban.

“As Salba we welcome the general positive behaviour among South Africans during this festive season,” said association Chairperson Sibani Mngadi.
