Over 1,650 new COVID-19 cases, 117 deaths recorded in SA

The Health Department has released the latest COVID-19 statistics. It said that 117 more people have succumbed to COVID-19 related illnesses. This brings the total COVID-19 death toll in the country to 49,784.

Over 1,650 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the last 24-hour reporting period.

Covid-19 cases continue to decline

Active cases in the country have now dropped to less than 35,000. The department said the recovery rate now stands at 94 percent with more than 63,000 vaccines administered.
