Dumisani Mkhwanazi will learn his fate on Friday in the High Court in Johannesburg. Mkhwanazi was found guilty of killing University of Johannesburg (UJ) student Palesa Madiba in 2013.
Madiba went missing in 2013. Her body was found two years later in a shallow grave at a house in Phiri.
Mkhwanazi lived in a back room of the property owned by his family.

Before his arrest last year, his family had obtained a protection order against Madiba’s family to prevent them from going to their house in an attempt to locate her body.
