Nearly 50,000 people have died from COVID-19 countrywide since the outbreak began. Around 1.5 million total infections have also been recorded.
Over 67,000 frontline health care workers have been vaccinated over the past ten days since the campaign began.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says more vaccine sites will be added.
The Health Department reported 52 more COVID-19 related deaths taking South Africa’s COVID-19 death toll to 49,993.
The department also reported 1,168 new COVID-19 cases.

Ramaphosa announced a move from adjusted Level 3 lockdown to Level 1.
He gave an update on the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday after consultations with the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), the President’s Coordinating Council (PCC) and Cabinet. South Africa’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 94.5 percent.
