The KwaZulu-Natal government wants answers from police management over the spate of murders of traditional leaders.
In the latest incident, Inkosi Manqoba Mkhize and his aide were gunned down in Howick this weekend.
Their assailants opened fire, killing them both. Mkhize’s family can’t come to terms with the attack. The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs is alarmed.

Police Minister Bheki Cele says it’s heartless for a political party to use the pain of bereaved families for political gain.
He was responding to Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema’s remarks that Cele had reneged on a promise to pay the burial costs of Mthokozisi Ntumba who was shot dead in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, last week, allegedly by police. Learn more
