The plight of fee-free tertiary education is back into focus.

While students continue to protest, what are the frustrations of those in rural areas?

Many in those areas also aspire to further their education but finances don’t allow them.

One school in Taung in the North West received a 95.7 percent pass rate despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the question is: What will those who passed do if they’re not granted access to bursaries and NSFAS funds?

The staff at Totonyane Secondary are hoping pupils will help break the chain of poverty in their families.
