After two days of COVID-19 numbers dipping below the 1,000 mark, it was back up to 1,447. This takes the total number of positive cases to 1,516,262.
The health department said 95 more people have died, taking the death toll to 50,366.
Gauteng reported the highest number of deaths, followed closely by the Western Cape. Over 83,500 health workers have now been vaccinated.
Government says it has achieved its target of exhausting the first batch of vaccines within two weeks.
It says it will use lessons learnt from the process to tweak its full rollout programme.
