Coronavirus infections in South Africa have increased by 847 to bring the total number of recorded cases to 1,559,960. The health department said 67 more people have died, bringing the death toll to 53,423
The recovery rate is at 95 percent with just over 21,000 active cases. Over 290,000 healthcare workers have been vaccinated.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has temporarily suspended the rollout of J&J vaccines.
