The Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation says the withdrawal of the SAPS VIP protection unit is compromising the safety of incoming King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini.
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi says the units were instructed by the KZN Provincial Commissioner to withdraw from the Royal Palace.
He says, neither he nor the King, nor other members of the Royal Family, have been informed of the decision.
He is now appealing to the government to reconsider its decision, as this will place the King in a vulnerable position.
On Friday, King Misuzulu was taken away from the royal palace after fights broke out minutes after Queen Regent Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu’s will was read.
