Community leaders say an under-utilized sports complex in Mitchells Plain has become a white elephant.
Community leaders also fear the field behind it has become a dumping ground for dead bodies.
In 2017 the body of 11-year old Stacha Arendse was found dumped on the field.
Just a few weeks ago, a child discovered the body of an unidentified person.
The Swartklip Indoor Sports Centre was built in 2010 to serve the Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain communities.
However, the multi-purpose facility has not been fully utilized for at least four years.
It’s been prone to vandalism, and part of the fencing has been stolen.
