#RIPNnini: 24-year-old Nnini Pule found murdered inside Boyfriend’s car, her throat was slit

Our sister was murdered and the story we were sold was pure lies.

These were the words of Sabata Pule (32) from Hennenman in Phomolong, Free State, whose sister Nnini (24) was killed on Thursday, 13 May.

Sabata said he got a call on Friday morning, 14 May, that his sister had died. He said when he arrived at home, Nnini’s boyfriend came by.

“He told us they were driving to Welkom in his Chrysler Voyager when he got a call from my mother and stopped alongside the road. He told us as he was about to get back into his car, a white Polo stopped near them and two black men jumped out. One of the men hit him on the forehead with the butt of a gun and roughly moved my sister to the back seat. They then told him to drive towards Winburg and demanded cash.

“He said when he gave them R1 500, they asked for more. He told us he said he could do a phone transfer, but they refused. They took his bank card and demanded the pin. They stopped the car and told him to wait on the side of the road and took my sister, whom they said they would bring back after getting the money.”

The boyfriend got help from passing motorists and called the cops.

They later found the car with Nnini inside. Her throat had been slit.

Sabata told the publication his family didn’t buy the story.

His sister Keke Mokoena said she hoped the police would find the truth.

“My sisters killers could be walking free and they might do this to another woman,” she said.

Keke said her sister had big dreams for the future and was studying to get a degree. “Now it has all been cut short. We want justice and we won’t keep quiet until someone is behind bars,” she said.

Free State police spokesman Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said cases of hijacking, robbery with a firearm, murder and kidnapping were opened.

He said after the incident was reported to the police, they found the Chrysler near a BP petrol station in Winburg with a black woman lying on the back seat with a wound to her throat. “She was declared dead at the scene and a case of murder was opened. The suspects are still at large,” he said.
