Gauteng premier David Makhura said he’s extremely worried about the increasing number of COVID-19 infections in the province and is considering further restrictions.
He has urged residents to change their behaviour if they want to limit the impact of the third wave.
Gauteng accounts for a large majority of the recent COVID-19 infections and public and private hospitals are facing an increasing demand for beds.
The provincial coronavirus command council is set to meet on Tuesday where further restrictions will be discussed.
