A fight between black and white pupils at Witbank Technical High School was not a racial incident.
That’s according to Mpumalanga premier, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane.
She’s visited the school after classes were suspended last week.
The premier does, however, say the way the incident was handled caused tensions, resulting in clashes between black and white parents.
“Their behaviour has contributed a lot to where we are today. She could have managed the situation way better instead of setting up these children against each other,” Mtshweni-Tsipane said.
A team from the Mpumalanga Education Department will now oversee the implementation of the recommendations for transformation.
