South Africa’s new COVID-19 infections have more than doubled in the last 24 hours.
Over 8,800 cases have been recorded in a single day.
The death rate is also climbing with 127 new fatalities.
This as the death toll inches towards 57,400.
The country’s recovery rate is also dropping now at 92.8 percent.
There are currently over 66,000 active coronavirus cases in the country.
