Samkele Maseko (born in South Africa) is a South African journalist. The self-acclaimed Lord of the Media rose to prominence working with eNCA. He was employed in the position of the senior political reporter.
He quit the news platform to join the SABC broadcast. He is a familiar face to many television viewers and news listeners.
The Lord of the Media is not only a title but a product of his impact in the industry.
He covers issues that are “sensitive” and has resulted in him having “rough times” with both his superiors and local authorities.

Maseko worked with eNCA for many years. He covered political related issues for the TV news broadcast channel.
He worked for the company as a political reporter. He has also worked for Kagiso Media as a Senior Reporter.
At SABC
The South African reported that Maseko has made an official resumption for work at SABC on 2 January 2020.
He received a warm welcome as he became resumed work. He saw himself making headlines in late 2019 for not working out his notice period after he resigned at eNCA.
A video was released online by Natasha Nokuthula Phiri containing how he was welcomed. In the video, she can be heard welcoming the popular journalist into the SABC family.
The headquarters of the SABC stands in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, South Africa. Though, Samkele feeling nervous, it seemed that the excitement feeling was stronger.
Resignation from eNCA
Maseko was called several names including “a rat” by Pillay for being the head of the “sinking ship” of the SABC.
This followed his resignation from eNCA amid controversy on the broadcast channel withdrawing from covering an EFF elective conference.
Masko took to social media to harshly criticize him and shared with followers the reasons he left eNCA.
Things grew serious and a “social media war” broke out resulting in the tarnishing of the reputation of Pillay. In the end, Pillay apologized but no one seemed to accept his apology.
Eventually, eNCA fired Pillay for “mud-slinging” Samkele and tarnishing the company’s reputation.
