Bushy Maape is set to replace Job Mokgoro as the new North West premier.
The announcement was made at a media briefing in Mahikeng on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, people opposed to Mokgoro’s removal took to the streets and burnt tyres.
Mokgoro took over in 2018 following weeks of violent protests against his predecessor, Supra Mahumapelo.
