The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) has dismissed suspended director-general Kgabo Mahoai.
The embattled DG has been found guilty on disciplinary charges related to spending R118-million on a dilapidated building in New York.
Last month he was convicted of gross negligence and breach of legal obligations.
In a statement released earlier, Dirco Minister Naledi Pandor confirmed that Mahoai is no longer employed by the department.
Ambassador Nonceba Losi has been appointed as the acting director-general.
