Foreign nationals are said to make up only 8 percent of drivers in the freight industry.
However, Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi raised concerns over the employment of undocumented people.
He says this is economic sabotage.
Truck drivers have been protesting the employment of foreign truck drivers.
Nxesi said: “The road freight industry employs 103,000 employees, 8,5000 are foreign nationals which is 8 percent.
“There are employers who employ undocumented foreigners, we urge them to refrain from those as we view it as a economic sabotage…our labour inspects will intensify inspections across the country…a decision was taken that coordinated intervention should be located at the provincial level by MECs of Transport and Security.”
