The legendary actor was born on 17 April 1956 in Soweto, a town of the City of Johannesburg, Gauteng. He grew up and spent most of his childhood days there.

Education

In 1970, Jerry Mofokeng started his studies at Orlando West High School 1974. Later in 1976, he attended Youth Alive Ministries. He furthered his academic pursuit at Wits Drama School and studied Acting.

To further his education, he moved to the United State of Africa (USA) after he was awarded a scholarship. There, at Columbia University, he did his master’s in Theatre Directing (1987-1991).

The actor is a legend both on stage and onscreen, Jerry has appeared in many television and stage productions. Among others, he was cast in many critically-acclaimed films like Cry, The Beloved Country.

He also was cast in the film Mandela And De Klerk; in 2005, Jerry made it as cast in the film Tsotsi. Offscreen, he also is notable for the impact he has made in the entertainment industry. During those years of student unrest, he was active in the community theatre.
