Six men accused of the murder of the Gauteng Department of Health whistleblower, Babita Deokaran, are expected to be back in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning for their bail application.
The acting Chief Financial Officer at the provincial Health Department was shot and killed outside her Winchester Hills home, south of Johannesburg, in August 2021.
Phakamani Hadebe, Zitha Radebe, Hlangano Ndlovu, Sanele Mbhele, Siphiwe Mazibuko and Siphakanyiswa Dladla have been charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition for their alleged involvement in the Doekaran murder.
Their bail application was earlier postponed due to a maintenance issue that affected the water supply in the court premises.
