Kid Cudi walks offstage after being pelted with water bottles at Rolling Loud festival

American rapper, Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, better known by his stage name Kid Cudi, stormed off the stage at a show in Miami on Sunday.

Cudi, 38, was headlining the festival, and he grew irritated at the behavior of some partytroppers.

He was struck on the face with a bottle and despite warning the crowd, another object was thrown at him.

It’s unclear why fans began throwing items at Cudi. Many people on Twitter speculated it had something to do with Cudi replacing Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, who dropped out of the festival Sunday “due to circumstances outside of our control,” according to festival organizers. If that’s the case, the situation mirrors Drake’s experience at Tyler the creator’s camp flognaw festival in 2019. Many fans assumed the surprise guest headliner was Frank Ocean and began to boo when Drake came out.

Before storming off the stage, he said; “Yo, I will walk off this stage if y’all throw one more f—— thing up here. I will leave right now.”

“You are ruining [it] for everybody. If I get hit with one more f—— thing, if I see one more f—— thing on this f—— stage I’m leaving. Don’t f— with me.”

Shortly thereafter, what appeared to be a bottle soared past Cudi’s head. He dropped the mic and slowly sauntered off stage. The boos soon began to rain down as if the sky opened up (it actually did around the same time causing a brief scramble for cover among fans).

Rolling Loud addressed the situation on Instagram on Saturday.

“Rolling Loud is a family,” read the caption of the company’s most recent Instagram post “Our fans, the artists, and everyone involved need to look out for each other. Share the love and be respectful to everyone. We love you, Cudi.
