Mamelodi Sundowns officially sign 24-year-old Moroccan defender

A North African club has revealed that the South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns have snapped up a highly-rated defender Abdel Moneim Boutawil.

Boutawil joins the Brazilians from the Moroccan club, Chabab Mohammedia, and he is seen as a perfect replacement for Ricardo Nascimento who joined Royal AM.

The reigning MTN8, Nedbank Cup and DStv Premiership champions were on the market for a central defender and the technical team identified the lanky defender.

According to a Moroccan side, Mohammedia, they announced that the big defender has sealed a move to Masandawana.

“The player Abdel Moneim Boutawil moves to the club Mamelodi Sundowns,” Mohammédia said.

While Sundowns are expected to confirm the player’s arrival this week, the 24-year-old left-footed player joins the club together with Sipho Mbule who left SuperSport United at the end of the past season.

Meanwhile, the club released former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka who has since joined AmaZulu.

At the same time, they are heavily linked with SuperSport goalkeeper Ronwen Williams while Ricardo Goss is expected to go the other way.

Still on transfer news at Masandawnaa, the club has reportedly snatched up Marcelo Iván Allende Bravo from Chile.

The Chilean is said to be on his way to the 2016 African champions and the 23-year-old attacking midfielder will join from an Uruguayan club Montevideo City Torque.

Remaining with the Tshwane giants, Sundowns are set to hold their pre-season camp in Rustenburg this week before heading to the Mangosuthu Legacy Cup in Durban this coming weekend.
