“Disjointed” Kaizer Chiefs suffer third loss, fans divided as they call for changes in the line-up

The South African football fraternity is now divided as many social media users and fans react to the 2-0 loss suffered by Kaizer Chiefs against Cape Town City.

Amakhosi went to the Mother City on Tuesday night chasing the full three points, but they missed a number of chances as their hosts converted twice to bag their maiden win of the DStv Premiership season.

Checking Twitter reactions, the football family is divided as some believe the defence was shaky and out of sorts while some feel the club needs undying support including their coach Arthur Zwane.

The Citizens capitalised on erratic defending by the Soweto giants and a second-half free-kick committed by the struggling centre back, Siyabonga Ngezana, has led to some of the fans booing the 25-year-old.

Speaking after his third defeat of the season out of five league games, Zwane lamented their failure to execute their plan at DHL Cape Town Stadium.

“We obviously started very slow, very sloppy at the back. We actually planned for this, the only thing that we didn’t do right was to execute the plan,” Zwane told SuperSport TV.

“We knew that they would want to drop the ball behind that is why we came with three defenders so we can close those spaces with the wing-backs.”

Social media is abuzz as the club is trending and Entertainment SA looks at a few reactions from local tweeps.

“Dear Kaizer Chiefs fans Where do you get this tendency of booing your own players now? Chiefs is under attack as it is and you guys are becoming part of the problem too? Nah, let’s grow up guys. Ngezana is human he makes mistakes just like everyone including you.”

“Arthur Zwane is the head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, whichever team he picks we will support He trains these players, he guides them through “his” ideas on how to play out there, which makes him the most qualified to pick the best team on the day. The team comes before our favorites.”

Meanwhile, Amakhosi will turn their focus to Stellenbosch FC whom they meet in the MTN8 on Sunday in the Mother City.
