A South African comedian Robby Collins has just brought the term ‘make lemonade out of lemons’ into a reality as he turned a pothole into a radio studio.
The Durban-based comedian has uploaded images of his makeshift studio with his equipment and he is ready to dish out music and news.
According to his Instagram post, Collins seems to add to the loud voices where many motorists complain of potholes in South African roads.
In his caption, he seems to look for undivided attention from the government and municipality, saying potholes are not fun to drive into.
“Let’s be honest, potholes aren’t fun. They aren’t fun to drive into, and they aren’t great fun to broadcast in. In fact, we should use all the money we spend on putting up pothole warning signs to actually fill in the potholes.” he said.
As part of a collaboration with a tyre company, Dunlop, the business has gone big with a first-of-its-kind radio station that has been built within a massive pothole.
Collins is now featured in the latest “Pothole FM” advertisement and the images have seriously attracted massive interest from social media users.
Kaya 959 reports that the massive 50cm deep pothole was discovered in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal and that uMngeni Local Municipality has reportedly been working tirelessly to repair potholes that have become severely damaged as a result of the KZN floods earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the South African government through SANRAL, has made efforts to solve the pothole issues by launching a nationwide Operation Vala Zoke pothole campaign this week.
