A lavish estate that used to house the late Princess Diana has found its way to the media and it is reported that it is rented for a staggering R240 000 a month.
Business Insider South Africa reports that Tarrystone Estate used to be owned by the late Diana’s brother Earl Spencer and it is located in the upmarket Constantia in Cape Town.
As of March 2023, the rent for the 10-bedroomed mansion that hosted Diana is set to go up and will cost a tenant R240 000.
It is reported that the property the death Princess of Wales, Diana, usually visited is located just off Southern Cross Drive, occupying two acres of land with views over False Bay.
Dogon Properties Group said the estate is one of the most sought-after and desirable properties in the Southern suburbs.
The real estate firm announced that Spencer’s former house also boasts large rooms, double-volume ceilings, state-of-the-art security, (including a guardhouse), a manager’s office, private vineyards, a tennis court, fully equipped gym room, jacuzzi, koi pond, and a swimming pool.
“Tarrystone is undoubtedly the most desirable property in the Southern Suburbs, ideal for entertaining on a grand scale. The home and cottages are rented fully furnished,” said the company.
“The finishes and decor are exceptional with a 10-seater cinema/media room. The private vineyard currently produces about 300 bottles of private label Pinotage wine each year.”
Rentals manager at Dogon Properties Odette Maartens said they are “inundated with hundreds of inquiries monthly. It is an exciting time to be in the property industry right now in Cape Town, and especially in lettings.”
As part of its features, the property boasts 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, 15 parking spots, five guest cottages, two staff houses, and a double-storey home that comprises about 1,100sqm.
Back in 2014, the house was put on sale and it had a price tag of R80 million. Although Tarrystone has undergone renovations since Spencer sold it off in 2000, the suite which the fallen Princess used has, for long, been preserved since her passing in 1997.
Lavish as it is, the property is popularly known for its connection to British royalty and was last visited by Princess Diana in January 1997, months before she died in a car accident in Paris.
