The DStv Premiership transfer window closed on Thursday night and there were a few signings made by the likes of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
On the part of Mamelodi Sundowns, they parted ways with left-back Lyle Lakay who has returned to Cape Town City on a season-long loan deal.
While Sundowns supporters were left unhappy with the move for the free-kick specialist, the 31-year-old expressed delight upon his return to the Mother City.
Lakay made his way back to the Citizens for a second stint after he was bought by Masandawana, Sundowns, from the Capetonians in July 2018.
“It’s a great feeling to be back. I’m excited and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. Cape Town City is an ambitious club and that is one of the reasons I agreed to come here,” Lakay said.

On the part of Orlando Pirates, they have also landed Kermit Erasmus’s signature from Sundowns and joins the club with the likes of Marumo Gallants’ star Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo whom they signed on a three-year deal as well as goalkeeper Sipho Chaine from Chippa United.
Speaking after joining the Buccaneers as Pirates are known, Ndlondlo said he never expected the move to happen in the eleventh hour.
“With the window closing today (Thursday), I didn’t think a move would happen, but football is unpredictable, anything is possible. Here I am today speaking to you as an Orlando Pirates player,” he expressed.
On top of that, the reigning league champions, Masandawana, also made their long-awaited confirmation of the signing of Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil.
The highly-rated 24-year-old centre-back joins from Moroccan top-flight outfit SCC Mohammédia but the football fraternity also criticised Kaizer Chiefs for failing to beef up their ranks.

Entertainment SA looks at social media reactions as many fans are left divided on why Sundowns dispatched Lakay among other topics.
@Monakhishin said:
“Dear Lyle, I will sorely miss you at Sundowns. I do not understand why this is happening. I don’t think anyone at Sundowns cares what the supporters say. You are a complete, versatile player – attack, defend! Already we are poorer in set pieces.”
@Thobani said:
“This boy helped Sundowns a lot when it comes to set pieces, they will definitely miss him, though Hakimi almost ended his career.”
@Xolane Mahlangu said on Ndlondlo:
“Wrong signing again, we have enough midfielders in this team we are lacking a quality finisher, whoever is tasked to sign players la ekhaya uyahlulela straight.”
@TheAlchemist said:
“Orlando Pirates only went Kermit because @KaizerChiefs wanted him, this sabotage by PSL teams is too much.”
Blessed Sibanda wrote:
“Great signing this one. There is a left-back who plays for Usuthu. Ehee that Namibian star, Pirates please look at him.”
@Thatishi said about Chiefs:
“I think there is a realisation that the players brought in are not much of an upgrade on those released. Remove Maart, Du Preez, Zitha, and Caleb and you’ll see we didn’t upgrade much. We released 12 and basically brought in 4 quality replacements.”
