Kaizer Chiefs’ Arthur Zwane ready to meet Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos

Ahead of their MTN8 first leg semi-final encounter against AmaZulu this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane says he is willing to meet with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

This comes after Broos has threatened to leave the DStv Premiership coaches alone including Zwane, as they seemed reluctant to sit down and meet with him.

However, Zwane has committed to meeting the Belgian mentor, Broos, and find a way how they can work together for the benefit of the national side, Bafana.

On Tuesday, Broos threatened that the upcoming FIFA international break in November would be the last time he reached out to set up a meeting with Premier Soccer League (PSL) coaches after a number of failed attempts.

“Not once. There was never a single day where I got a call from the coach [Broos]. Having said that I am available, if the coach wants to meet me because it is not about me, it is about the players as well,” was Zwane’s quick response to the media.

“We need to understand what he wants from our players when they go to the national team. We have to be on the same page — it is about the country and for our football to grow.

“We want our football to be better and whenever he wants us to meet I am more than ready. If a player doesn’t have a cap, they will always not be ready because the more the player plays for the national team the better.”

With Bafana fresh from two international friendly wins over Sierra Leone and Botswana, the former Cameroon manager continued to criticise the local players, saying they are far from being top international players.

He even vowed that some of the players will not get an opportunity to don the national team jersey referring to the next FIFA break in November.

However, Zwane begged to differ in opinion, saying some of the players need regular call-ups and opportunities in the squad to get used to international football demands.

“If a player doesn’t get the opportunity at Bafana, there is no way he can be better. That’s how I see it, even me as a player the more I got opportunities the better I got with time,” he added.

“If you are not getting call-ups, how are you going to improve as a player because the only time you can is if you play.”
