KANYE WEST WEARS CONTROVERSIAL WHITE LIVES MATTER AT YEEZY FASHION SHOW

Kanye west caused a stir at his Yeezy SZN9 fashion show in Paris on Monday when he opened the event wearing a black jumper with the slogan white lives matter printed on the back.

it was billed as a surprise fashion show but landed as a bigger surprise than expected.

The shirt, which featured a photo of Pope John Paul II on the front, was worn by models on the catwalk and by Ye, as West prefers to be known, along with the rightwing commentator Candace Owens, a guest at the show.

Ye was followed by a small choir of what appeared to be children wearing pieces from the new collection. West can be seen filming the choir as they sing, “You make forever” with his daughter, North West in attendance joining them.

“You can’t manage me. This is an unmanageable situation. You can’t turn the music lower,” Ye spoke as he prepared to start his show.

West, who recently ended his business relationship with Gap and vowed to end his long-standing partnership with Adidas, has previously made several questionable comments about race and the Black community.

Many activists condemned West’s shirt and comments. Marc Lamont Hill, an activist, author, and professor tweeted that West’s “decision to wear a ‘White Lives Matter shirt is disgusting, dangerous, and irresponsible.”

Although some of West’s past songs shed light on racism and the mistreatment of Black people, he has come under fire for some of his statements in recent years. During a 2018 interview with TMZ, West said slavery wasn’t real. He also made headlines in 2018 for meeting with then-President Donald Trump several times and wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
