“Sandawana”: Mamelodi Sundowns boasts of a new fan in DJ Khaled

South African deejay, DJ Khaled, is the latest superstar to associate himself with DStv Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

DJ Khaled is a hot topic on Twitter after the Brazilians, Sundowns, posted his image displaying the club’s latest football shirt.

The Tshwane-based champions are keeping South African social media users talking as they are sharing their views on the club’s new supporter, Khaled.

Boasting of the MTN8, league title, and Nedbank Cup they won last season, Sundowns captioned the image, “Masandawana, they ain’t believe in us – but @djkhaled did!”

“Thank you for the support @djkhaled and we hope you enjoy the gift! Do you have a favorite DJ Khaled song? Let us know in the comments!,” wrote the club.

It is believed that the shoutout from Khaled has to do with their ties to Roc Nation who partners with the 2016 African champions.

Back in 2021, the Chloorkop-based club, Sundowns announced their partnership with Roc Nation Sports which is affiliated to United States rapper Jay Z.

The partnership sees Sundowns and Roc Nation Sports as a vehicle to drive change through impactful initiatives and alignments.

Speaking about the partnership, Sundowns Chairman Patrice Motsepe said it will contribute to the Club’s vision of becoming one of the best football clubs in Africa.

“We are excited to share this relationship with our most important partner, the Mamelodi Sundowns supporters, who join us on this journey as we reach new heights in innovation, entertainment, and success. Our motto “The Sky is The Limit” reminds us that no dream is too big; and by working together with like-minded organizations, we can go further and inspire those around us,” he said.

In a related post, Entertainment SA published that South African musician Cassper Nyovest recently brought Twitter to a standstill as he was potted at Chloorkop where Mamelodi Sundowns conduct their training.

The award-winning muso, Refiloe Phoolo (Nyovest), trained with the reigning DStv Premiership champions as he prepared for his eagerly anticipated boxing match versus Priddy Ugly at Sun Bet Arena.

Cassper’s match will be staged at Time Square in Pretoria next weekend and he was seen taken through his paces by Sundowns coaches such as Steve Komphela and Rulani Mokwena.
