U.S STATE OF MINNESOTA CELEBRATE ANNUAL WIZKID DAY

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid was born in Surulere Lagos Nigeria on July 16, 1990, but he became a ‘global citizen’ in the year 2016 after he made a global hit with drake.

In that same year, Wizkid became the first ever indigenous Nigerian musician to hit the number-one spot on the popular U.S singles chart. Two years after he set this record, Wizkid again made history as the first African artist to ever grace the runaway for the international fashion brand; Dolce and Gabbana.

On October 6th, 2018, Wizkid became the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis. To honor the Grammy-nominated act for his achievements in music and as a cultural influencer, the Governor of the State, Mark Dayton, in a sealed and stamped document, declared October 6th as the State’s annual Wizkid Day.

“Wizkid has inspired Minnesotans and music fans around the world as one of the biggest cultural influencers of our time. Now, therefore, I Mark Dayton, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Sunday, October 6 as Wizkid Day” The statement reads.

The state of Minnesota is an upper midwestern region of the United States. It is the 12th largest U.S. state in the area and the 22nd most populous.
