A 30-second video clip showing the final moments of the former reality TV star, Patrick Fakoya, aka Rico Swavey, at a hospital in Lagos State, has attracted condemnation from members of the public.
In the video, Rico can be seen sitting on a chair while receiving oxygen as the nurses contemplate how to move him into the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
Instead of showing some level of urgency, some nurses were apparently making videos and laughing while Rico needed life-saving help. This triggered some of their colleagues to call them out over their lackadaisical attitude toward the reality star.
One of them can be heard saying, “Oya, make we carry am now go inside” while another nurse chuckled, another nurse who was unhappy with their behavior said, ‘His oxygen is 90%. You guys need to stop making videos and let’s move it. Someone is in critical condition and you are making videos”.
The video has since sparked outrage on social media with some citizens calling for the immediate dismissal of the staff who should have handled the situation with the uttermost professionalism.
In response to the hospital’s identity disclosure, a social media user wrote:
“Hey! That Doren hospital???? It’s bad luck oh! People I know who go there never get out alive. I know at least four cases”
@One generall_kaji wrote: “They should all start practicing immediately…. What a horrible way to watch RiCo go by… I am so disgusted”
@One Meody__Williams wrote: “This particular hospital in my estate….I will personally accompany you to haul them out…I remember when my sister was ill we rushed her to this hospital. … The nurses and doctors there don’t care about the lives of the people … not even the emergency room before they come to you I hated this place so much … never again”
