“We are happy”: Kaizer Chiefs family delights in victory over Swallows FC

Kaizer Chiefs defied the odds and silenced their critics when they beat Swallows FC 2-1 in their DStv Premiership encounter on Wednesday night in Soweto.

The Soweto derby had Chiefs claiming the full three points and the local social media space is now buzzing as many users believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Some of the Glamour Boys fans, as Chiefs are known, feel coach Arthur Zwane is finally getting things right and they might end up challenging for the league title.

Chiefs moved to fifth place, equal with rivals Orlando Pirates on 14 points, and they netted through Caleb Bimenyimana and Keagan Dolly to see off the Dube Birds who remain rooted at the bottom of the log table.

“We really want to be close to the teams up there,” said Zwane after the game.

“Football is unpredictable. You never know, we might have started the way we did and we might finish on a high. That’ll be a chance for us to capitalise.

“There are no easy games, not only for us but for other teams as well. And that’s why it’s very key for us to find ways of winning games (at all times).”

@Sihlahla V said:

“Happy with the three points but not happy about the performance. We need to play for 90 minutes, not just 55. The coaches need to work a lot on our strikers. Caleb has to stay in the middle cos he can’t shoot from wide positions especially left foot.”

@Sam Kubheka wrote:

“Thank you for three points Mangethe and the team, I hope we will fix the cracks at the back that continue to taint our performance causing us to concede silly goals, that is why we are no five on the log having the same number of points with positions three and four.”

@Molokwane commented:

“We are a work in process as long as we are collecting the points in the process, we are all happy @kaizerm_jr. Coach Mangethe must work on the confidence of Du Preez, I think the pressure of playing for the biggest team is getting to him.”

@Owami posted:

“We are moving in the right direction, few more fixes and we will be running on pro mode soon.”

Up next for the Naturena-based side is a clash against Stellenbosch at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday and Amakhosi will be gunning for their second away win.
