“I feel betrayed”: Cristiano Ronaldo lambasts Manchester United

Portugal and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a controversial statement regarding his treatment at the English Premier League giants.

Ronaldo says he is mistreated by Manchester United and that he has lost respect for his manager, Erik ten Hag.

The FIFA World Cup-bound striker with Portugal, Ronaldo, says he doesn’t care what people or the club say but people must listen to the truth.

Following Ronaldo’s remarks, Manchester United issued a statement on Monday but said it will consider its response after establishing the facts.

The 37-year-old Portuguese and former Real Madrid skipper, Ronaldo, alleges that he has endured disrespect at the Old Trafford Stadium-based United citing betrayal from the management.

“Honestly, I shouldn’t have said that I don’t know, but I don’t care – people should listen to the truth, I feel betrayed, and I felt that some people don’t want me, not only this year, but last year too,” he said.

After he was recently lambasted for storming out of Old Trafford as they claimed a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspurs for not wanting to come on for the remaining two minutes, Ten Hag said he would “deal with that tomorrow not today.”

“I don’t have respect for Erik Ten Hag because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I will never have any for you,” Ronaldo added.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have issued an official statement following the outburst by one of the world’s most prolific strikers, Ronaldo.

“Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo,” said the club.

“The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.

“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief, and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”

Twitter users also weighed in on the matter and some of the fans believe the club should exercise more respect for the hitman.

@Eshola wrote:

“Ronaldo is bigger than ETH & the entire Man Utd. He has more money than ETH & all the entire Man Utd players. He’s got more FOLLOWERS on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram than the Club combined, all MAN UTD players combined, ETH & crew combined. Ronaldo is a brand & should be respected.”

@Joseph Okello said:

“Ronaldo’s admission that he doesn’t respect the coach risks inciting other players to do the same. Shame! There was nothing noble about the interview. Ronaldo maligns his coach before the entire world and still expects to play under him? No way.”
