While South Africans were dealing with load shedding and having to come up with dinner solutions, our President, Cyril Ramaphosa, was having the time of his life with all the delicious feasts.
During his state visit, King Charles reportedly served stuffed pheasant to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The meal was hosted by the monarch at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday night after Ramaphosa was greeted by over 1000 soldiers, 230 horses, seven military bands, and two state coaches on the first day of his two-day visit to the UK.
The “Daily Mail” revealed a menu that honoured the leader with two main courses: grilled brill with wild mushrooms, truffles, and sorrel sauce or ballotine of Windsor pheasant stuffed with artichokes, quince compote, and port sauce.
The outlet emphasised that it was a “break” from Charles’s late mother Queen Elizabeth’s banquets, as the monarch was known for preferring venison or lamb from the Balmoral home where she died, one of the other royal estates when hosting foreign VIPs.
A selection of assorted Chantenay carrots, kale with roasted butternut squash, braised fondant potatoes, and salad were said to be served as side dishes at Charles’ first banquet as monarch.
The other options, according to the outlet, are a Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru for £77, a Morgeot, Clos de la Chapelle, Domaine Duc de Magenta 2014 for £61, and a Château Rieussec 1er Grand Cru Classé Sauternes 2007.
