Scandal! has paid tribute to one of their star actresses in the form of Nomvelo Makhanya who joined the programme as a teenager.
The outgoing Makhanya played the role of Lindiwe Ngema-Maseko and spent close to a decade with the eTV production, Scandal!.
The weekday telenovela, Scandal! expressed gratitude to the talented thespian, Makhanya, who displayed nine years of her talent with them.
Makhanya played the character of Lindiwe Ngema-Maseko – who exited the show on Thursday, by taking her final breath and head writer of Scandal!, Grace Mahlaba showered the youngster with praise.
Makhanya launched her journey on Scandal! as a Grade 16-year-old grade 10 learner.
According to Scandal!’s script, Lindiwe passed away and her death comes after she fell pregnant with her first child and was later diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension.
The condition forced Makhanya (Lindiwe) to decide between aborting the baby or remaining pregnant, thus placing her life at risk.
However, Lindiwe opted to keep her unborn baby’s life but after the baby was born, her health deteriorated, and she eventually died in her mother’s arms.
“It feels like yesterday when Nomvelo with other teenagers from NSA came to audition for Lindiwe, she was the shortest of all them yet the boldest and strongest in both personality and appearance,“ said Mahlaba as quoted by Sunday World.
“We have been honoured as a production, especially the viewers who saw Lindiwe arrive with a bang and exit with so much power at her peak. She gave every storyline her utmost best whether leading or supporting, Nomvelo is a force to be reckoned with.”
