Drake requested a necklace from NYC jeweller Alex Moss to symbolize “all the times he thought about it but never did it,” despite never having officially announced his engagement.
Drake has more than simply seven rings; get the hell out of here, Ariana Grande.
Drake has a new piece of jewellery that was inspired by all the fiancées he never had, which is the ultimate rich flex. On December 12, jewellery designer Alex Moss posted an Instagram Reel of a stunning diamond necklace that featured sparklers from a variety of engagement rings to symbolize the occasions when the “Hotline Bling” rapper almost got down on one knee.
“New piece titled ‘Previous Engagements’ for all the times he thought about it but never did it,” the caption read. “42 engagement rings.”
Drake’s necklace, which took more than a year to make, includes 42 stones and a massive 351.38 carats in diamonds, according to Moss, who spoke to E! News.
“The entire project took 14 months to complete top to bottom, and was built by hand in New York City,” Moss told E! News on Dec. 13. “It was made using 18k white gold, and was set using the eagle claw technique.”
He added, “No other details can be disclosed, other than the fact that this is the most insane chain ever made.”
The Instagram video’s narration referred to the necklace as “a true miracle of the jewellery world,” a “monumental art work,” and embarking on “the impossible.”
Drake hasn’t made any mention of the jewellery item on his own social media accounts.
Although the musician, who shares son Adonis, 5, with Sophie Brussaux, has never officially announced any engagement, he had previously dated SZA from 2008 to 2009 and had an on-and-off relationship with Rihanna from 2009 to 2016.
Since the necklace was first shown online, people have speculated in the comments that at least one of the stones must symbolize his relationship with the singer of “Diamonds.” After all, Drake famously remarked to the audience at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards that Rihanna was a lady he had been in love with since he was 22 years old when giving her the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
I guess diamonds truly last a lifetime.
