Another ‘Tsotsi’ star ,Presley Chweneyagae, has been linked to the lottery funds scandal

Another Tsotsi star, Presley Chweneyagae, has made headlines after being accused of misusing National Lotteries Commission funds (NLC).

According to GroundUp investigative journalist Raymond Joseph.

In 2018, Joseph began his investigation into the Presley Chweneyagae Foundation.

When the funds were allocated to the foundation, the musical event was planned to take place in three provinces.

He is accused, along with co-star Terry Pheto, of misappropriating lottery grant funds.

The Pretoria High Court granted the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) a preservation order in November to attach 12 properties linked to NLC officials, including Pheto.

According to Joseph, the Foundation received the money from the R67.5 million won in the lottery by the Southern African Youth Movement.

“The only evidence I got was pictures from the opening night of the musical in Mahikeng,” said Raymond Joseph, Journalist – GroundUp.

According to Joseph, the star actor did not respond to their email and that receipts for how the funds were allocated were destroyed.

Chweneyagae is said to have a close personal relationship with some of the Commission’s officials.

“He turned up regularly at their events. He knew them and was a part of the circle where he would even MC their events.”
