Bonang Matheba was chastised for tweeting that Cyril Ramaphosa should resign

Following her tweet urging President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign, media personality and businesswoman Bonang Matheba has ruffled some feathers.

The “Being Bonang” reality star is back, this time joining hundreds of South Africans, including political leaders, in calling for the president to resign following the release of the contentious Phala Phala farm report.

Ramaphosa is embroiled in a scandal involving a burglary at his private Phala Phala game farm in Limpopo on February 9, 2020.

On Thursday, December 1, shortly before Ramaphosa’s much-anticipated speech (which was later postponed), the former Metro FM host tweeted, “Resign.”

Many people appeared to be offended by the controversial statement. Tweeps began to drag Matheba, with some advising her to stay out of politics.

“Wena you must not start with your nonsense. Stay out of politics and concentrate on finding a boyfriend that won’t play you,” said @cab_delivery.

“Just keep on showing those skinny thighs and stay out off politics 🤣🤣 that’s what you’re good at, thighs and bikinis,” added @Gummy186A.

Others quickly reminded Matheba that she was once in the Ramaphosa camp, encouraging young people to vote.

In 2019, Matheba and other local celebrities, including rapper AKA, were seen live-streaming with Ramaphosa on Instagram, implying their support for the president.

Another Twitter user, @static_an asked: “Senixabene njalo??”

Loosely translated, it reads: “Are you guys no longer on good terms?”

In May, Matheba slammed Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture Nathi Mthethwa on Twitter, calling him “useless.”

“You’re useless and we all hate you @NathiMthethwaSA❤️,” she tweeted at the time.

This came after Mthethwa confirmed that he was working on a project to install a mega flag, known as the South African National Monumental Flag, at a cost of R22 million to taxpayers.

Many South Africans were outraged by the project, with some claiming that the R22 million could have been better spent on more important issues like education, food, and employment.

Following the backlash, Mthethwa announced the cancellation of the contentious flag project.
