Record label: Details of Mampintsha’s passing won’t be shared with public

As the South African music industry is mourning the passing of Big Nuz member Mampintsha, the family says the details will not be publicly shared.

In a statement released by Mampintsha’s record label, West Ink Management, the company confirmed the sad news of the muso’s passing.

While media reports suggested that Mampinstha was hospitalised after suffering a stroke, the details surrounding his death still remain unclear.

In an official statement on Saturday, West Ink said: “Husband, father, musician, and Westink CEO Mandlenkosi “Mampintsha” Maphumulo has died.

 “Details of Mampintsha’s passing ”cannot be shared with the public.“

The sad news comes after Mampintsha suffered a minor stroke a week ago upon his return from a performance with Big Nuz and was currently in hospital and under doctors’ observation.

The 40-year-old, who was a member of the award-winning group Big Nuz, had been rumoured to be unwell throughout the week after a local newspaper alleged that he was in bad health, prompting Afrotainment to release a statement.

While the tributes are pouring in from the likes of SAMRO, and sports presenter Mpho Maboi among others, Entertainment SA selects a few.

@Azania said:

“Big Nuz started as 3 member group now there’s just one member left. Just happy that Shimora dies when he’s made peace with DJ Tira and Afrotainment. I’m happy his marriage survived the storms and he loved Babes.”

@Teddy Bear wrote:

“No words can describe how shocked, sad and heartbroken I am. RIP Shimora, RIP Mampintsha, condolences to Babes Wodumo, Danger, DJ Tira, and Afrotainment family at large.”

@Bra Sello commented:

“Rest in power big man, your name will live forever.”

@Mpho Maboi reacted:

“Bathong Babes… my heart breaks for her and the fam. Condolences to family and friends.”

Meanwhile, the recording company has announced the details of the funeral will be communicated to the public in due course.
