Born Mandla Maphumulo but popularly known by his stage name Mampintsha, the Gqom hitmaker sadly passed away from a stroke on the 24th of December, 2022, at the age of 40. At the time of his death, Big Nuz had just released a new single, “Ngeke,” which was making very big waves in the music scene. Mampintsha’s death from a stroke at a relatively young age has raised awareness about this illness that sneaks up on a lot of people, a lot of whom don’t survive it. Those who do, depending on the severity, have to relearn basic things or change their lifestyles completely to adjust to their new reality.
One of the ways in which strokes can be prevented or life after a stroke managed is through exercise and a healthy diet. Bodies are made in the kitchen and maintained by exercise, so your health is almost entirely controlled by what you eat. A lot of supermarkets have created a ‘healthier’ option for a lot of foods that we generally enjoy consuming.
A perfect example would be the free-range line of foods and the different types of milk available on the shelves in stores like Woolworths. They have full-cream milk, low-fat, lactose-free, and even almond milk, all of which ensure you get the correct amount of calcium and vitamins, among other nutrients needed to keep your overall health in check, and all of which can be found in the Woolworths deals catalogue.
Mampintsha Life
Mampintsha was born and raised in Umlazi, Durban. As part of Big Nuz with Mzingisi “Danger” Tshomela and the late R Mashesha, they achieved widespread commercial success in 2009 with their hit “Umlilo,” and from then on, they had many other hits that kept us dancing. After R Mashesha’s death in 2015, Big Nuz disbanded. Mampintsha then formed and released his solo projects via his own record label, West Ink Records. This is where he met his wife, Babes Wodumo, as she recorded her hit single, “Wololo.” The couple was not without their issues; accusations of abuse and court cases marred their relationship. They somehow dealt with their issues and had their wedding in April 2021. They also had a show on Showmax called Uthando Lodumo.
