ZamaNguni Gumede died more than a month after the untimely death of her son Mampintsha due to a stroke.
Tragedy rocked the Gumede family once more when ZamaNguni Gumede, the mother of Kwaito performer Mampintsha, died. Gumede died on Sunday, 15 January 2023, at the age of 64, according to the Daily Sun.
Gumede’s death was confirmed by Mampintsha’s sister, according to the magazine.
The death of ZamaNguni Gumede comes while the family is still grieving the loss of Mampintsha, whose true name is Mandla Maphumulo, in December last year.
Gumede’s daughter has spoken up about her sadness in the aftermath of her mother’s untimely death.
“Now that she’s gone, I can see that she wanted to bid farewell to us. She told me she was old and that she was leaving. She asked if everyone was around and I said yes. She wanted to see Sponge, Mampintsha’s son and I told her he was not around. I could see the sadness in her eyes and she did not say anything. She gave us her blessing and we spent some time with her. We then left. At about 10h00 I received a call informing me that she is dead,” Gumede said.
All of this comes as the family of Mampintsha’s widow, Babes Wodumo, stated that they did not think ZamaNguni was unwell. While Nondumiso Simelane, The Wololo hitmaker’s sister, supported the singer in an interview with TshisaLIVE on Wednesday 11 January, she has informed Zimoja that her family does not think Zamanguni is ill.
Pinky, the late Big Nuz group member’s sister, would have told the Simelanes if her mother was actually unwell, according to Nondumiso.
“If she was really sick, Pinky would call us and tell the family. Why has no one phoned us?” Nondumiso asked.
