For their future halftime spectacle at the 2023 All-Star Game, the NBA is going worldwide. This year, the league has chosen Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema to lead the Afrobeats-themed show, which will take place this Sunday night (Feb. 19) in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Along with the trio of Afrobeats singers, Post Malone will kick things off with a medley of classics at the show’s commencement. The National Anthem will be performed by Jewel, while Fast and Furious actor Vin Diesel will lead the player introductions for the freshly named NBA All-Stars. LeBron James will also be honoured by the NBA for shattering the scoring mark two weeks ago. Last year, the NBA recruited DJ Khaled to perform at the halftime show, and he brought out Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Migos, Lil Baby and Gunna.
Prior to Sunday’s celebrations, the NBA will host a variety of events, including this Friday’s (Feb. 17) Ruffles Celebrity Game. This year’s event will feature performances from Janelle Monae, 21 Savage, Cordae, Ozuna, Kane Brown, Nicky Jam, and more.
In prior years, the NBA has enlisted the services of a slew of musical artists, including J. Cole, Jack Harlow, Common, and Quavo. The Migos frontman wowed in both outings. In 2018, he scored 19 points and was named MVP. He recorded a game-high of 27 points the following year.
The Celebrity Game begins at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN and will be shown exclusively on ESPN. It will also be accessible on the ESPN App, while the All-Star game will air Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
